ASSOCIATE CHARTERED MEMBER - 'AChM'

A person is accepted into the grade of Associate Chartered Member upon filling out the application form and payment of the membership fees. A certificate of membership will be issued to all members and this can be prominently displayed in the member's place of business. The Institute continues to gain public recognition as well as the approval of employers and it is in the best interest of the members and the Institute that all members display their certificates of affiliation at every opportunity.

All Associate Chartered Members MUST:

  1. Abide by and follow the Institute's "Code of Ethics" and in general "Be of Good Character."
  2. Remain a member in good standing with the Institute by the prompt and timely payment of the designated fees/dues.
  3. Agree to maintain continuous self-improvement in their field through courses in his / her specialized fields of study.
  4. Specify their discipline of registration and area of study.

Education & Work Experience

In order to apply for membership in the Institute under the category of an "Associate Chartered Member" 'AChM', and in order to ensure eligibility for acceptance, new applicants must meet one of the following educational and work experience criteria - Items 1) to 4)

  1. A Candidate must be a Graduate of a three (3) year approved "Engineering Technology" program at an accredited Canadian College or be a graduate of an equivalent course at an accredited Non-Canadian College which meets or exceeds Canadian Standards. This candidate must also have gained at least one year of "Acceptable Practical Work Experience" in the discipline for which the application is made.
  2. OR

  3. A Candidate has completed an acceptable 3 Year Technical College Program via the "Internet" at an accredited Canadian College or an equivalent course at an accredited Non-Canadian College which meets or exceeds Canadian Standards. This candidate must also have gained at least two (2) years of "Acceptable Practical Work Experience" in the discipline for which the application is made.
  4. OR

  5. Candidate must be a Graduate of a two (2) year approved "Engineering Technician" program at an accredited Canadian College or be a graduate of an equivalent course at an accredited Non-Canadian College which meets or exceeds Canadian Standards. This candidate must also have gained at least one year of "Acceptable Practical Work Experience" in the discipline for which the application is made.
  6. OR

  7. A Candidate has no formal education beyond that of Grade 12 in the Canadian High School Education System but can demonstrate that he/she has at least four (4) years of "Hands On - Acceptable Practical Work Experience" in a specialized field of technical knowledge and expertise.

Associate Chartered Membership Fees

Associate Chartered Member - AChM - Canadian Residents Only $ 110.00 Cdn.
Associate Chartered Member - AChM - Non Canadian Residents $ 120.00 Cdn.
Annual membership fees are net in Canadian dollars and are payable on a yearly basis.
